Part B: Sample interviews.

In this part you will watch different video clips of the first part of the interview.


1. Before you watch.

Before watching the video clips, read the four descriptions in the box below.

  1. The candidate looks very relaxed, comfortable and natural. S/he focuses all her/his attention on the interviewer, smiles and nods and appears to give very long answers to the questions.
  2. The candidate looks quite relaxed and comfortable. S/he is sitting properly and is not moving her/his hands around. S/he shows interest in what the examiner is saying by leaning forward, smiling and nodding. S/he seems to respond by giving full and interesting answers.
  3. The candidate doesn't seem very comfortable, although s/he is obviously making an effort to overcome nervousness. S/he sits quite still, though changes position from time to time. S/he seems very intent on what the examiner is saying, showing this by leaning forward, frowning and nodding. S/he seems to give quite full answers.
  4. The candidate looks rather uncomfortable. S/he is making an effort to overcome nervousness, but still makes a lot of nervous movements. S/he occasionally smiles, but doesn’t always look at the interviewer when she is speaking. Her answers to the questions are not very long.
